More and more people are interested in using the apothecary of nature for supporting their health and the health of their families. As foragers in this growing movement, we must ask ourselves some important questions. How do we become the guardians of these plant populations and what does it mean to be an ethical wildcrafter? In this class, Humble Roots Farm & Nursery owners Kristin Currin and Drew Merrit along with herbalist Liisa Korpela of Bella Botanica will take you on an in-depth journey into building relationships with our plant allies. We will bring a new level of awareness into how to be responsible stewards to the land and the plants we love so dearly through teaching about plant identification, ecology, and growth habits, along with basic harvesting techniques and herb uses. Aimed at both experienced and budding herbalists, the class will offer many important resources for further learning, potentially a sample from the woods, and most importantly will give students the confidence to ask the hard questions about how to harvest so that we can sustain these practices for future generations.
