Folk Medicine: Herbal Preparations

  • Wildcraft Studio School 27 Bates Road White Salmon, WA, 98672 United States (map)

Learn the magic of making basic herbal remedies at home in your kitchen. Liisa Korpela, herbalist and founder of Bella Botanica, will lead us through the steps in creating our own herbal apothecary just in time to transform spring’s bounty into wares for our summer camping and hiking adventures. We will learn about processing the plants using different extraction techniques, while understanding their power as medicine. Each student will get a chance to prepare a handful of herbal concoctions— from flower infused revitalizing summer sun teas blends, to spring herbs tinctured for eliminating the winter congestion, and medicinal oils and salves for sore muscles and garden hands. Whether we find the plants in our garden, the woods, or the marketplace, we will focus on the spring bounty of common greens and flowers like dandelions, nettles, chickweed and calendula to support our health. Come discover the joys of experimenting with folk recipes and leave with a bounty of medicine for your cabinet.
